The KOMONO #DawnTillDusk campaign celebrates living in the moment and being your most authentic self. We travelled throughout Europe to find people shaping the societies of tomorrow. From Athens over Berlin to Brussels and Kyiv, these creatives share their favorite moments and offer a glimpse of what it means to be young today.
On the crossroads between East and West, Kyiv is a laboratory for social experiment and cultural innovation. Constantly in flux, a new generation is being shaped by the creative impulse to respond to the consequences of the recent revolution.
"When we were younger, we were bullies in some kind of way. We would look at one another and judge each other’s behavior. People tried to push our visions down. With getting older, I try to be more tolerant, care less about what society thinks of me and be kind to other people and to nature. In my art, I try to connect with others and build a community."
- Misha, painter
"I dropped out of school and then had to figure out what to do in life. I was already making my own clothes so I started selling them to my friends. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years now. A lot of my peers are now over thirty and still don’t know what they want to do in life. I’m glad I was able to figure it out at a quite early age."
- Andrew, fashion designer
"I feel most comfortable in forests and parks, I love nature. Just anywhere in the nature really. Go out of the city and go hiking."
- Katya, student
"I really like simple things, like the beach and nature. Going to clubs and being yourself, dance and be crazy or act foolish. It’s like speaking with your body, expressing yourself with movement."
- Marina, model
"As a vegetarian in Ukraine, it’s still difficult to go out eating. A lot of people still don’t understand you can make good food without using meat. So I really had to learn how to cook and now it’s something that I enjoy a lot."
- Mia, barista
"I try not to think too much about the future, I really try to live in the moment. Meditating in the morning really helps me to focus. I just sit there, breath and try not to think about anything."
- Olga, nail artist
"A lot of my friends have their own small business, I create short videos for them or pictures for their social media. I am always intrigued by these small moments within their work and how I can translate these into word and image. As an outsider to the whole process, I am more able to capture these little peculiarities."
- Valeriia, graphic designer
